We often forget the extent technology plays allowing us to go about so many of our daily tasks, and the amount of work happening behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly. As IT professionals, we do spend part of our days fixing the computers that have broken, working with individuals on technology questions, and taking care of all of the things on the backend that keep us functioning. However, we also have the capability to provide much more to our staff and our clients outside of the day-to-day IT services we already provide.

It's so true!! There are days I'm so glad that I have so much info available to me on the fly with my little smart phone, and then days when I'm enormously frustrated when my life seems to fall apart because of small glitches like my computer not waking up! It takes a lot of time and money in order to learn HOW things work in order to make sure they KEEP working (never mind finding new solutions and setting the stuff up in the first place!). This deep "how and why" type knowledge is an absolute requirement, and it also why having reliable and expert technology base to lean on is so crucial for today's businesses.
Vollmer's IT team is in a unique position of serving many different industries and their sometimes wildly variable technology needs. This team employs versatility and flexibility as naturally as breathing. Way to go Micah & Eric!
